Meet the Magnetic team
A founding partner of the newly formed Magnetic Music Group, Chris Johnson is an accomplished record producer and artist development specialist known for his creative vision on the multiple Grammy Award winning, 23,000,000 selling “Fallen” by the rock group Evanescence.
Chris has produced theme songs for the Los Angeles Clippers, Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears, music for Hyundai, Chevrolet and Cadillac, and has worked extensively on commercials, television and films. Chris has worked with Academy Award winners James Cameron, Kathryn Bigelow, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Russell Crowe and Hans Zimmer, and has made musical contributions to the movies: “The Resident”, “Kingpin”, “Spirit”, “Strange Days”, “Dare Devil”, “Mystery Man”, “Basketball”, “Clubland”, “Baker Boys: Inside The Surge”, etc.. Television shows include: “The Pickup Artist” (VH1), “Providence” (NBC), “Melrose Place” (CW), “ESPN X-Games” (ESPN), “NBA Basketball” (FOX Sports), “Motoworld” (ESPN), and many others.

Artistic and musical creativity, mechanical curiosity and entrepreneurial exploration have each been driving forces at certain times throughout my life. This explains my disparate passions for playing the guitar (yes, Metal & Punk!), designing, building and fixing all things mechanical and a serious obsession with the principals of entrepreneurship.
Jay Rifkin brings more than 25 years of building entertainment, technology and interactive marketing companies that have successfully envisioned and capitalized on media and consumer trends. He was a principal founder and CEO of Media Ventures, a creative entertainment cooperative that has produced more than two hundred major motion picture and television soundtracks. Mr. Rifkin was CEO of the company from its inception in 1989 until 2005 and built Media Ventures into an industry-leading source for original film and television music.
Mr. Rifkin’s work on Disney’s “The Lion King” drove soundtrack sales to more than 25 million copies worldwide and earned him a Grammy Award and two American Music Awards. The stage production included three of his songs and earned him a Tony nomination, Grammy and an Ivor Novello award.
Mr. Rifkin is a Director on the board of Mei Han Heshan, an animation and media production company in China and an active member of the Producers Guild of America.
